In partnership with the Jewel-Osco Company, Chicago Heights School District 170 and Bloom Township have provided school district personnel and community members with their final dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccination.
Around 650 eligible staff and educators, and senior citizens participated in the February 25th event held at CHSD170's new middle school.
"Providing the final vaccination for our staff accomplishes what had been one of the district's top priorities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic," said CHSD170 Superintendent Tom Amadio.
"Today's event was an essential step in protecting our students, their families, and our staff, and in concert with safety procedures already in place hastens a return to in-school instruction."
"Completing the vaccination process for so many senior citizens fulfills the township's commitment to being proactive in combatting the COVID-19 condition," added Bloom Township Supervisor Thomas "TJ" Somer.
"This event was a wonderful example of what the civic and corporate worlds can accomplish when they join together to provide an essential vaccination opportunity for so many people," he concluded.
Amadio ended his comments by acknowledging those responsible for organizing and running the event.
"I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved in making possible the vaccination process. Their amazing efforts continue our district's and the township's commitment to providing all our community with the best possible educational environment," he stated.
