November 10, 2020
At its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, November 9, 2020, the Chicago Heights School District 170 Board of Education decided to delay the implementation of in-person instruction because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The district will continue to closely monitor virus positivity rates to make an informed decision concerning our students' and staff's safety before committing to a return to schools.
In the last few weeks, Governor Pritzker has implemented stringent mitigation strategies due to the recent surge of positive COVID-19 cases. These actions remind us that we must increase our commitment to following those strategies because our collective behaviors, both in school and throughout the community, affect our health, our overall well-being, and the possibility of opening our schools.
Please know that School District 170 will work tirelessly to pursue every avenue to secure the safety of our students, their families, our teachers, and all our district staff. To better achieve that goal, we ask that you please continue to practice social distancing, mask-wearing, and handwashing wherever you are.
Respectfully,
Thomas J. Amadio
Superintendent
